Obituary

Thelma Frances Seleen passed away April 15, 2018 at Salem Hospital. She was born December 6, 1944 to Jasper Hampton Campbell II and Thelma Lula (Baker) Campbell in Sumpter County, SC., the youngest of four children. In 1965 she married Robert F. White, who died in Vietnam in 1967. They had one daughter, Carol Shaw. Frances married Stanley Seleen in 1970 and they moved to Oregon in 1972. This marriage produced three children, Esther Hoffman, John Seleen, and Mark Seleen. They divorced in 1983. Fran was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Jasper Hampton Campbell III. She is survived by her sister Nancy (Mayberry) Floyd, her brother John Campbell, her four children, and five grandchildren.

Fran loved music and taught herself to play the piano at a young age. She was part of the State Choir in South Carolina and delighted all who heard her sing. She was also on the basketball team at school. Fran loved to draw and paint, but her favorite hobby was gardening. In the early 1980's she began learning more about the Bible and its beautiful hope for the future and dedicated her life to Jehovah as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1984. Even after she became housebound she still endeavored to share her Bible hope with all she could and enjoyed seeing how current events fit in with Bible prophecy. Fran was known for being an excellent Scrabble player, making the tastiest fried chicken, and especially for her generosity to others. In the past few years she and her sister came up with many creative riddles and puns that they enjoyed sharing. She will always be remembered for her warm smile and concern for others, right up to the end of her life.

Services for Frances will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2858 Wallace Hills Ct. NW, Salem, OR 97304 at 2:00 PM.
