Martha Josephine McGregor Robertson

Martha Josephine McGregor passed peacefully from this life on April 7, 2019. Martha was born October 31, 1954 in Boise, Idaho to William Allen and Rachel Brown McGregor. She was the sixth of 7 children and the youngest daughter.

Martha grew up in Boise, spending her first 20 years there. She loved her childhood home life with her family and the bonds she forged with her siblings and their families are strong. She loved all of her childhood friends in the neighborhood—many of which she remained close to all her life. She loved many of her neighbors through the years, and in particular Mabel and Roy, who kind of stood in as surrogate grandparents.

Martha’s family had many adventures. Camping and fishing were among some of the favorite vacation activities. As long as they were together, they would have a great time. Since youngest brother Kent was blind from birth, all the siblings were his protector—but none more than Martha. They were closest in age and they spent the most time together during their childhood years.

After graduating from high school Martha’s mother suggested that she look into a new program at St. Luke’s hospital in Boise—a respiratory therapist program. Martha enjoyed the program that lasted one entire year. In 1975 she was hired by Salem hospital. She worked for more than 20 years at inpatient respiratory care and then helped develop the pulmonary rehab program at Salem hospital where she worked for another 20 plus years. She retired from Salem Hospital on February 7, 2019 after more than 41 years of service.

Martha was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved the Lord and had a strong testimony that God loves his children. She made it a point in her life to emulate the actions of Jesus Christ in everything she did, and so she loved everyone, and she was a caring and compassionate woman. She did her best to live as the Savior did, to be a good example to all.

In 1976 Martha met Alan Robertson and they dated for about 6 weeks before they both had the impression that the relationship could be a permanent one. After pondering this possibility for the next two months, in November of 1976 they became engaged. They were married on April 8, 1977. They just passed the milestone of their 42nd anniversary. During their early years together, they welcomed 4 beautiful children into their family: Erika (Perdue), Kelly, Luke, and Brian (Rachel). They have four beautiful grandchildren: Fallon, Jack, Jolee, and Jameson. Martha loved spending time with her grandchildren—especially when they were babies!

The family loved taking adventures together, camping, seeing National parks, and just spending good family time together.

Martha is survived by her husband Alan, daughters Erika and Kelly, sons Luke and Brian, grandchildren Fallon, Jack, Jolee, and Jameson, five older siblings: Cynthia (Anderson), Bonnie (Byington, Betty (Redford), LaRee (Millward) and Dan. Her younger brother Kent, passed away 18 months ago. Farewell sweet Martha! A biento.
