Obituary

Jerold Eugene Egner, known to everyone as Gene, was born on November 4, 1941, in Lebanon, Oregon to Charles Egner and Melba Uber Egner. 

Gene graduated from the University of Nevada (Reno) with a degree in accounting and he worked as a CPA.  He even owned his own business for several years.  He retired from the State of Oregon’s Liquor Control Commission.  He also taught Math at Chemeketa Community College a job which he really enjoyed.  His hobbies were boating, water skiing, travelling, and telling classic Dad jokes.   He had his Hamm radio license and enjoyed participating in preparedness drills with CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).  

Gene passed away on December 8, 2023, from complications of dementia.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia LaRayne Willis Egner, daughter Penni Leigh Egner, his parents Charles and Melba Egner, and sister Muriel Charlene Spurill.  He is survived by his wife Kathleen Hardy Egner, and by his children Pamela LaRayne Williams (Daniel), Jonathan Eugene Egner, Bonnigene Luv Cloud (Lee), James Everette Kerne, Seretta Patience Beauchan, Jason Edward Turk and Joshua Nathaniel Enger  (Amanda).  He is also survived by his step-children Kristen Skinner, Cynthia Dieter (Loren), Stephen Douglas Harrison (Lisa), Richard Howell Harrison (Nichole), Craig Hardy Harrison, Andrew Grant Harrison, and Andrea Diane Sang (Samuth).  The family also includes many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
