ABOUT US

Our History

We at Johnson Funeral Home believe our history is now! We are Salem’s newest funeral home to open its doors. We are new, yes, but not new to Salem. The Johnson family has been a huge part of the Salem community for over 50 years beginning with Miles grandparents moving to Salem in the early 1960’s. Through those years Miles grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings have worked in, attended school in, and been a part of the Salem community. Miles is the 8th of 12 children. He attended 12 years of public school here with his siblings. Chances are if you’ve spent any significant time in Salem you’ve heard of, met, or had a personal or business relationship with a member of the Johnson family. That just might be because many of the family have returned and laid down roots as your local lawyer, or orthodontist, or maybe one of the Johnsons has coached a family member in their sports.

We love being the new guys in town because it gives us an opportunity to breathe much needed life into an industry that badly needs it. We are doing it one family at a time with our caring approach, and by treating all who come through our doors as family. And we do it all at a low cost. The people have spoken; they want to see value in the money they spend, and they want their loved ones to be treated uniquely with a one of a kind funeral service or celebration of life that is completely unique to them. Johnson Funeral Home has listened, and is ready to answer the call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.

Our history is perpetually linked to our owner and founder Miles Johnson. To read about how Johnson funeral home came to be, read Miles full bio.
