Tom Loganbill

Tom Loganbill passed away peacefully at his home October 25th, 2019 due to a severe stroke. He was born on April 18th, 1953 in Salem to Genevieve and Bill Loganbill. Tom graduated from South Salem High School.

The love of his life, Patti Lynn Durham, and Tom were married in 1982. Tragically as newlyweds and expecting, Patti was murdered on 11/22/1982 while employed as a veterinary assistant at Sunnyside Veterinary Clinic.

Tom always enjoyed the great outdoors with a deep appreciation for wildlife, beautiful plants and flowers, and working with wood. He was a truck driver for several years. Tom was ground support for a helicopter reforestation company. He enjoyed being a ski instructor in his younger years. Camping, fishing, and hiking in Oregon was something he looked forward to every summer. Friends and family will always remember the beautiful outdoor bonfires with fond memories. To some this was like their second home. He loved the excitement of dirt bike riding. Trails were created in the woods nearby and as his son Jericho became old enough, they often rode together.

The Hawaiian Islands were home to Tom for a couple of very special years. One could often see Tom sporting a colorful Hawaiian shirt in warm weather. Tom liked to informally greet people with “Shaka Brah” ~~”Hang Loose!” He loved music and entertained others with special renditions on his juice harp. Pandora was always a favorite feature on his cell phone.

Tom truly adored his only son, Jericho Thomas Loganbill, who is currently employed as a plumber for Judson’s Plumbing in Salem. He enjoyed watching him grow up, attending his sporting events, and being a great source of inspiration for him. Tom affectionately called him “Sonny”.

Tom will always be remembered for his sweet soft nature and subtle humor. Family and friends were very dear to him. He treasured the time he spent with them. Tom especially loved birthdays and Christmas. Outdoor Christmas decorating was a tradition along with music and spirits to keep the winter chill bearable.

Tom is survived by his son Jericho Thomas Loganbill of Salem, Jericho’s mother Kerrie Leigh Herron of Sagle, Idaho, his half-brother Jim Loganbill of Bradenton, Florida, his half sister Jeanie Kathleen McIntosh and Chris Riggs of Salem. His nephews Mitch McIntosh of Salem, Brian McIntosh of Bend, and Jim Coons, Jr., Robert Coons, & Craig Coons all from Florida and great nephew Robert Jake Ratcliff of Portland. He is survived by nieces Heidi Loganbill of Portland, Kelly Jones of Lyons, and great niece Brittany Ratcliff of Portland.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve Loganbill, his wife Patti Loganbill, his father Bill Loganbill, and brother Robert Loganbill; his wife Patsy Lindsay, and half-brother Kenneth Coons. Nephews Robert Loganbill, Jr., and Craig Herrig. Niece Larisa Marie Ratcliff, and Grandmothers Delores Loganbill and Olive Parks of Salem.
The family would like to express deep appreciation for the wonderful care Signature health Care at Home extended during Tom’s final days. Jaymie Willis set up a Go Fund Me page on Facebook under Jericho Loganbill to help defray final expenses.

A celebration of Life will take place on Saturday November 9th at 2:00 PM at Restlawn Chapel in West Salem.
