Suzanne Marie Cook

July 18, 1951 — August 19, 2023

Suzanne Marie Cook, born in 1951 in Saginaw, MI, and beloved daughter of Robert Joseph and Mary Eileen Cook, left us on August 19, 2023 after a courageous seven-year battle with MSA. She lived a fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many.

After moving to Garden Grove, CA, Suzanne married her high school sweetheart, Gary Grombacher, during his Navy service in Japan during the Vietnam War. Together, they opened their hearts and home to foster children and had two sons, Andrew and Phillip. Suzanne's laughter and kindness made her the mom everyone wished for, while Gary's sense of humor perfectly complemented hers.

Throughout her life, Suzanne dedicated herself to volunteering for various organizations. She helped domestic violence victims at Wild Iris Family Counseling and Crisis Center, organized outings for adults with developmental disabilities, and led numerous projects for the Center 50+, City of Salem Senior Center. Suzanne also served as an ombudsman, assisting seniors with their taxes. Even as her illness progressed, she continued to give back, crafting hundreds of holiday cards for seniors in care facilities.

Suzanne was known for her compassion, loyalty, and friendship. She leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew her. Survived by her loving husband Gary, sons Andrew and Phillip, grandsons James and Dimitri, sister Michelle Crosby, and brother Robert Cook, Suzanne's legacy will live on through the lives she touched.
