Stanley Martin "Sidehill" Mortensen

August 1, 1948 — April 14, 2017

Stanley Martin "Sidehill" Mortensen was born in Reno, Nevada, then moved to the San Francisco bay area, then Sacramento, before finally settling in Salem, Oregon in 1991.

Stan chose facility maintenance for his career, while dedicating the last 16 years at Oregon State Hospital.

In his spare time his hobbies included leather and wood working.  He volunteered at Champoeg State Park as a costumed interpreter.  He also volunteered numerous years working as a docent in the blacksmith shop at Sutters Fort in Sacramento.  His love of early American history included studying Chinook Wawa in Grand Ronde, Oregon and being a member of Willamette Long Riffles, a black powder group.

He is survived by his wife Cathie, his son, Erik, daughter, Jennifer, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
