Sarah F. Williams was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, the oldest of three children, John and Hazel. She attended Annandale and St. Agnes high schools then went on to Wheaton College, in Massachusetts where she majored in history. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Sarah travelled to Japan to do missionary work through the auspices of the Episcopal Church, where she met her first husband, John Williams, with whom she travelled to and lived in Cambridge, England, and New Zealand. Returning to Gifu, Japan, Sarah gave birth to a son, Ross, a daughter, Megan, and her youngest daughter, Emma. In 1990, Sarah moved to Corvallis, Oregon as a single mother where she raised her children and worked in administration at Oregon State University. She loved reading and writing poetry. Sarah lived with her husband, Geronimo Tagatac, from 2014 until her death. They married, on August 18, 2022. She is survived by her son Ross, and her daughters, Megan, Emma, her brother, John, a sister, Hazel, and her husband, Geronimo.
