Rosemary Scott

Our dear Rosemary (nee Bickell) Scott passed away peacefully on October 10 after a battle with cancer.

Raised in the Catholic faith, she was confident to be joining Jesus in her eternal home.

Born in Salem, Oregon to Floyd and Gertrude Bickell. Preceding in death by her parents, sister Lorraine and brother Laurence and Billy Scott, her beloved husband of 55 years. Survived by her brother William (“Bill”) Bickell, son Eric Scott, stepson Jamie Scott and countless cherished family members and beloved friends.

Rosemary graduated from South Salem High in 1962 and was proud to be the first candidate from Salem selected for the Oregon Job Corps education and training program in 1965.

In 1968, she attended UCLA and worked for Hollywood attorney Howard F. Potter (where she met Billy). On their very first date, they ran into a famous jazz musician he knew, that asked if she was his wife. Ha!

Later married to Billy, they lived in Reseda, California for 18 yrs before returning to settle in Salem 40 years ago.

She loved her job working for the Marion Co Juvenile Court as a legal secretary for many years. She was quite proud of any volunteer opportunities involving children, especially the Foster Parent program.

Known for being compassionate, giving and kind. Rosemary was always our positive light and could find the good in anyone and any situation! When you needed support, guidance or just a shoulder, she was quick to lend an ear and help us see the silver lining and get us laughing again! You know she really cared for you if she was teasing you and picking on you. Ha!

Rosemary was a committed and active member of the Capitol City Republican Women’s Group in Salem, OR for many years. She would remind you to contact your representatives and voice your concerns! Be heard and get out and VOTE!

Reunited with her beloved Billy once again, and their beloved pets (and all of ours that they spoiled so!). Loving sister, mother, aunt and dear friend. We were so blessed to have her, and she will remain in our hearts. 💕
