Richard "Rick" Charles Walsh of Salem, Oregon, unexpectedly passed away on November 27, 2018, at the age of 74. Rick was born on December 14, 1943, in Seattle, Washington to Charles "Bud" William and Jane Elise (Stuart) Walsh.
He grew up in the Wedgwood area of Seattle, attended Our Lady of the Lake School and graduated from Blanchet High school in 1961.
Rick's love for the outdoors introduced many opportunities and traditions that will be continued and passed down through generations to come. He enjoyed everything from playing pool, target shooting, hunting, boating, fishing, camping, skiing, golfing, and (his greatest passion) training his golden retrievers - Daffy, Jocko, Zestee, Honey and Casey.
Rick had many passions growing up and often told stories to everyone with enthusiasm. We all know his story for how he won his trophy in baton twirling, which was always received with amazement and typically uncontrolled laughter. He was always willing to teach, give advice, or tell a story to anyone with an ear to listen. Through his theatrical ability to set the stage, "Picture this ...", his actions, or his follies, Rick gave everyone an opportunity to think and remember him in their unique way.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jane Walsh, his grandson, Luke Avery and his brother, Gary Walsh. He is survived by his children, Stephen Richard Walsh (Alicia), Joseph Charles Walsh, Christine Marie Avery (Brian); his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Rachel, Bradley, Beri and Drew; his siblings, John Walsh, Nancy Beach, Janet Munson, Ann Walsh and Jim Walsh, and his many nieces and nephews.
Richard Walsh, son, brother, dad, and grandfather will be missed by all.
