Richard “Dick” Green died June 6, 2024, at his home in Salem, OR.
Dick was a devoted husband and father and a proud veteran, having served with the United States Marine Corps. His service to his country exemplified his commitment to his family. Dick's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him. May he rest in peace.
After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Dick completed his college studies at Oregon State University and obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering. He eventually settled in Salem, OR and began a 38-year career with the Oregon Department of Revenue.
While Dick enjoyed several hobbies throughout his life, his most avid association was to music. He played the saxophone in many local bands over the years including the Salem Pops Orchestra, The Linn-Benton Community College Concert Band, The Tualatin Valley Concert Band, the Keizer Community Concert Band and the Al Kader Concert Band (Shriners). Additionally, Dick was a 32nd degree Mason and a long-time member of the Shriner organization.
Surviving is his daughter Lorri (Rob) Ranslam, son Brian (Lori) Green; grandson Steven Ranslam, granddaughter Carmen Ranslam, granddaughter Anna Green and grandson Marco Green. Dick is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Beppy) Green and sister Phyllis Garner.
Private services were held at the Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, OR, in accordance with Dick’s wishes.
