Mark Jenner

October 20, 1956 — February 3, 2020

Mark Jenner passed away at his home in Keizer on February 3, 2020. Mark was born in Gillette, Wyoming on October 20, 1956, to Herb and Jean Jenner, both teachers. He was the youngest of three children.

The family settled in Oregon in 1957, where Mark attended West Linn High School. In April 1983 Mark’s daughter Brandy was born to him and Cynthia Moore (Boettcher). After the birth of his daughter, Mark returned to school to pursue his passion for helping others and became a registered nurse.

Mark was a military veteran and a student of martial arts, having achieved a third-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. He also had an interest in Celtic history and culture, and attended the Portland Highland Games regularly. Mark also enjoyed woodcarving and would often carve canes for his patients. He enjoyed being outdoors, motorcycling, and feeling the wind in his face. He loved animals, and was devoted to his dog Frodo.

Most of all Mark cared about people. He shared whatever he had with others, and was always there when people needed help. He was a member of the Zen community in Salem, which gave him both comfort and insight. He was a loving father and his hand was always extended in friendship.

Mark is survived by his daughter Brandy and her spouse Kit, Brandy’s mother Cynthia, his mother Jean, sisters Heather and Gail, brother-in-law Scott, his dog Frodo, and all of those whose lives he touched in such a positive way.
