Marjorie "Margie" Boyer

Marjorie Elizabeth (Owens) Boyer has found peace and joy entering heaven on December 7, 2020, at the age of 98. Marjorie was born in Tulare, CA, on June 16, 1922, to Irvin Earl and Frances Elizabeth Owens. Margie was the older sister to Virginia “Sissy’” (Owens) Del Re and Ronald “Bud” Owens. She attended Tipton Elementary School where she met the love of her life and future husband Orval Henry Boyer. Marge and Orval graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1940. Soon after, Orval enlisted in the United States Navy and was deployed overseas on the battleship USS Coronis until September 2, 1945, when his enlistment was completed. Margie and her siblings also joined the war effort. Margie worked in communications as a teletypist for the Lockheed Aircraft Factory. Her sister Virginia worked building aircraft at the plant. Brother Bud joined the United States Army. Margie and Orval married on September 8, 1946. They resided in Tipton, CA for their entire marriage until he unexpectantly passed on June 15, 1984. They were blessed with four children: Nancy, Janice, Gregory, and Susan. Margie was full of energy and, along with her family, very much enjoyed life on their beloved ranch, a treasured place for family to gather, just outside of Tipton. Margie also worked as a secretary at the dairy creamery in Tipton (first for Arden Farms, then for Knudsen) until her retirement in August of 1984. She also worked in the Tulare County Fair office for a brief time. Marge loved volunteering at the World Ag Expo. She was a proud member and ardent supporter of the Tipton American Legion Auxiliary, Post 831, where she served as Post President as well as 15th District President. Margie enjoyed volunteering her time in so many ways: as a judge for the American Legion Auxiliary’s annual poppy poster contest at the Tipton Elementary School, and for the school’s yearly Halloween Costume Contest. She was a member of the 4-H Club, the Tulare County Garden Club, and the Sons of Italy. She was a lifelong blood donor and was a volunteer worker at the Tulare County VA Clinic for over 13 years, a total of 3,739 hours!!! She was also a faithful member of the Tipton United Methodist Church where she was a lay leader, a talented organist and a person who took it upon herself to see that many things, inside and out, were attended to such as maintaining the beautiful shrubs and flowerbeds surrounding the church. Marjorie was also a huge animal lover. Many abused or abandoned animals found a home at her little ranch where she lovingly cared for them. Marjorie was a wonderful friend to all. A gentle soul, a loving mother and adored grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma, as well as beloved part of her extended family’s lives. Her wonderful smile, giving nature, and loving prayers left an imprint on all who knew her. May God bless and keep you Marjorie, until we meet again. Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband, siblings, infant daughter Janice, and her son Greg Boyer. She is survived by her two daughters: Nancy Boyer and Susie (Boyer) Ellis, as well as her daughter-in-law Annette Boyer, and her former son-in-law Mike Ellis; her 10 grandchildren: Laura (Don) Mullican, Janis Moore, Lori Moore, Marina Farish, Rita Farish, Aimee Ellis Thompson, Jacque (Joe) May, Mandy (Josh) Oliver, Stephanie (Abel) Arredondo, and Gregory (Selenia) Boyer; 28 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at the Tulare Cemetery, 900 E Kern Ave, Tulare, CA, on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 1:30p.m.
