Marion Rogers

August 2, 1926 — November 25, 2017

Marion Corinne Mecham Rogers, 91, was born August 2, 1926 in Santa Rosa California to Harrison Mecham and Marguerite Pope Mecham of Petaluma, California. Marion’s family owned vast acreage in Sonoma County that her great grandfather purchased in the 1850’s. During the Great Depression, Marion and her family moved to Healdsburg for a brief period before settling in Santa Rosa.

She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1944 and attended Santa Rosa Junior College, earning an Associates degree in business. She began her career as a secretary with Santa Rosa Social Services and then went to work as an administrative assistant at Standard Oil (later the Chevron Corp.) in San Francisco. In 1959, she married Dale A. Rogers, and in 1966 gave birth to her daughter Corinne. After her marriage ended in 1967, Marion moved to El Sobrante, California and eventually settled in Santa Rosa in 1978.

Marion continued working for Chevron until 1989, retiring after 40 years of service. She moved from Santa Rosa to Salem, Oregon in 2006 to be near her daughter and grandchildren; she resided in Salem until her passing on November 25, 2017.

She is survived by her daughter Corinne Thomas (and her husband Jed) and is lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren who will miss her faithful support at all their activities. Marion was active in the LDS faith and a devoted friend to many. Marion had a warm sense of humor, a knack for crossword puzzles, and an unwavering loyalty to the Oakland A’s and Seattle Mariners. Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery in Petaluma, California. The services will be private.
