Lorri Lynn Cooper

October 11, 1958 — February 7, 2019

Lorri Lynn Cooper, 60, of Salem, Oregon, passed away Thursday, February 7 after a three year battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Albany, Oregon on October 11, 1958 to Bill and Karen Mayhew. After the death of her mother, Marilyn Erickson Mayhew joined the family, adopting and raising Lorri and her sister. Lorri was raised in Renton, Washington and graduated from Tyee High School. She attended Puget Sound Christian college for two years before marrying Val Cooper. They lived in Monmouth, Oregon and were married from 1980 to 2010.

Lorri worked for many years as a bookkeeper for a variety of businesses in Monmouth, Oregon. She also drove school bus for Santiam Christian Schools from 1992 to 1998. Lorri worked for the State of Oregon from 1998 to present, most recently as an Executive Support for the Water Resources division.

Lorri played piano on a worship team for her church for 40 years. She loved to cook and was passionate about quilting. In recent years, she began playing pool competitively. She loved people and often invited people into her home.

She is survived by four children: Rebecca Wages of Springfield, Oregon, Jennifer McMullen of Salem, Oregon, Carolynn Esary of Corvallis, Oregon, and Jonathan Cooper of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, her father Bill Mayhew, and her sister Marsha Gustkey.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 12, 3 pm at Gateway Foursquare Church in Salem, Oregon.
