Leroy Elvin Dehut
Jan 5, 1944-Aug 7, 2020
Loving Husband, Dad, and Grandpa
On Friday Aug 7, 2020, Leroy Dehut, Loving husband and father of four, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 76.
Leroy was born on Jan 5, 1944 in Salem Oregon to David and Benita Dehut. He was the 13th child of 14.
On July 13, 1963 Leroy Married Charlotte Irene Turner. They raised four children, Tammy, Lonny, Shawn, and Michelle.
Leroy had the most amazing love for his family!!! His eyes would light up with excitement when planning the many fishing trips to Odell Lake, crabbing trips to Newport, family beach trips, attending The Thanksgiving Holiday with family, the Summertime yearly family reunion picnics, our Christmas celebration, and of course his 4th of July celebration with fireworks. Leroy also enjoyed the time well spent catching up with siblings, family members, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren playing cards, or just sitting back talking. For Leroy, seeing and being around family, would bring a happiness to his heart and a smile to his face. As long as he was around family, Leroy was the happiest man on Earth!!!
Leroy had a wonderful and sarcastic sense of humor and the most memorable laugh. He could put a smile on anyone’s face. He spread love, and the importance of family to everyone that was close to him. He will forever be the Angel watching over his family, loving, supporting, and letting us all know he is near.
Our Angel, Leroy will now be living with no pain, and able to see his father, Mother, as well as several brothers, sisters, and relatives. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, his four children, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family gathering and viewing on Friday Aug 14th, 2020 at 4:00p.m. at Johnson funeral home 134 Missouri Ave S. Salem, Oregon 97302.
A separate family gathering and celebration of spreading Leroy’s ashes at Odell Lake will be at a later date.
