Larry Bill Bevens

August 5, 1938 — April 5, 2025

Born on August 5, 1938, Larry was the son of Floyd Clifford Bevens and Mildred Louise Bevens. He grew up in Salem, attending Keizer Primary School and graduating from Salem High School with the class of 1956. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in both Economics and Political Science from Oregon State University.

Larry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps before dedicating over 30 years of his professional life as Elections Manager for the State of Oregon. His commitment to public service left a lasting impact on the integrity and efficiency of Oregon’s electoral process.

A devoted husband and loving Father, Grandfather of 11 and Great Grandfather of 7, Larry is survived by his wife, Janice Lou Bevens; his children, Brad Bevens, Brian Bevens, Brenda Bevens, and Brent Bevens as well as the 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and his brother, Dan Bevens. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bobby Roy Bevens.

Outside of his career and family life, Larry was an avid golfer and a passionate reader. He had a deep affection for Great Danes and served as President of the Men’s Club for six years. He also coached baseball for his sons, sharing both his time and enthusiasm for sports with them.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
