Harold Craig Haws, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on November 4th, 2024. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. Harold accepted Christ at a young age and was a sincere man of faith. He was respected and loved by all who knew him. He was well known for his generosity, humility and integrity, honest work ethic, and dry wit.
Harold was born to Harold Mills Haws and Oral Jean (Rogers) Haws in Weaverville, CA. He enjoyed a high school career excelling in football, baseball and basketball. In 1970, with the Lord’s leading, he moved to Salem, Oregon to attend Western Baptist Bible college (Corban University). There he continued his basketball and baseball careers and met and married his wife Joany “The Lovely”. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together with the blessing of four daughters. Harold received a BS degree in History with a teaching credential but ended up with a 40+ year career in the HVAC industry.
Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked to pretend he didn’t love the many trips to Disneyland. He also loved playing golf, camping with his family, spending time with his grandchildren and coaching youth sports. He spent 10 years as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Corban University. There he was able to use his unique ability to uplift and encourage athletes in their walk with the Lord. If there was ever a life lesson to be learned or a problem to be solved “Dad” had the answer.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Jean Haws, his sister Rea Mennenga (Haws), and nephews Scott Fackrell and Michael Cox.
Harold is survived by his wife Joany; children Brandi Haws, Jennifer (Randy) Tingle, Jill Haws (fiancé Anći Melić), and Kelly Haws; sisters Margo (Gary) Posenjak, Shannon (John) Nugent and Trula (KC) Whitaker; and eight grandchildren Riley, Madelynn, Crosby, Blayke, Emin, Byrdie, Ella, and Asha along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Johnson Funeral Home and Traditions Health Hospice for their thoughtful and loving care for Harold.
