Fay Hunsaker Stoddard

Fay Hunsaker Stoddard- 88, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2017 in Salem, Oregon. Born on January 9, 1929, in Gilbert, Arizona, Fay was the fifth child of Alfred and Rachel (Manning) Nichols’ eleven children. She married Don Eldon Hunsaker, the love of her life, on June 2, 1950. She spent the next 34 years with Don, raising their 5 children, taking care of them with great love and care and continuing that with each grandchild joining the family. Fay returned to college while in Arizona earning a bachelors degree in education. She enjoyed being an elementary and special education school teacher as they moved through life while Don obtained his PhD in Child Psychology moving from Arizona to California, Oregon, Canada and finally settling in Cheney Washington in 1970 where Don became a professor at Eastern Washington University where he taught until his passing on November 26,1984.

Fay then met and married Donald W. Stoddard on December 5, 1988, moving to Salem, Oregon then on to Boise, Idaho. They returned to Salem in 1996 where they lived until her passing.

Throughout her life, Fay enjoyed many talents of which her favorites were painting, sewing, baking, quilting, swimming, and Mexican cookery. She loved her family and would do anything for them. She was very proud of her family and loved to brag about their accomplishments.

She is survived by her children Marci Lynch, Spokane, WA, Jenny Maughan(Dan), Milwaukie, OR, Jonathan Hunsaker(Cheryl), Salem, OR, Jill Barber(Jonny), Medical Lake, WA, Benjamin Hunsaker(DeAnna), Salem, OR, 23 grandchildren, and 38 Great-grandchildren and her spouse Donald Stoddard, Salem, OR.

Fay is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don Hunsaker and 8 of her siblings.

A Funeral service honoring Fay’s life will be held on Wednesday November 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 4550 Lone Oak Rd SE Salem Oregon. A Graveside Service & Interment will be on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Spokane Memorial Gardens, Spokane Washington.
