Don C. Jensen

Don C. Jensen passed away quietly in his assisted living apartment on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Salem, Oregon. He was 91 years old.

Don was born April 6, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to his parents, Daniel C. and Mary Catherine Jensen. Don grew up on the family ranch in Burnt Fork, Wyoming and attended school in Mountain View, Wyoming. Don was called to serve in the Army early his senior year in high school. After serving 2 ½ years in the Army, Don returned to his family, now living in Harrisburg, Oregon.

Don was hired by Morse Bros. Sand and Gravel as a dump truck driver. He continued to work for Morse Bros. for 44 years. Even after retirement, he continued to work part time another 8 years maintaining the company’s Pre-stressed Concrete Plants in Harrisburg and Clackamas, Oregon. Margie, his wife of more than 66 years said “he enjoyed playing with his big Tonka toys.”

Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many roles of leadership and working with youth. Don and Margie enjoyed dancing and spent several years working with teenagers and participating in numerous regional and national dance festivals sponsored by the Church.

Don was actively involved in the community of Harrisburg from 1971 to 1991, serving in various capacities for 20 years including Harrisburg City Council, President of the Council Planning Commission and Mayor.

After retirement, Don and Margie enjoyed traveling the Western United States via their motorhome, seeing the country and spending time with family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife Margie, four sons, Steven and his wife Larayne, Ronald and his wife Kathy, James and his wife Debbie, and John, his brother Marden and his wife Dotty, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-children.

Services will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Junction City Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1530 Rose Street, Junction City, OR.
