Billie Calvin Faurot, age 92, born January 2, 1925, passed Wednesday, May 3, 2017 after complications from old age.
Billie is survived by his son, Larry Faurot and daughter, Deborah Rutherford. He will also leave behind 4 grandchildren; Troy Faurot, Todd Faurot, Tara Rutherford and Melissa Stewart, 12 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Faurot, his father John Calvin Faurot, his mother Clara Anna Geese, 4 sisters and 3 brothers, Granddaughter, Mandi Anne Rutherford & a Great-Granddaughter.
Billie is a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War (2 tours), where he earned several medals. He grew up in 4 different states. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 16, with his guardian sister’s consent. He served 4 years in the United States Navy. He held the rank of LTC upon retirement from the US Army. He then got married and worked with a group trying to start Prairie Airlines in Omaha, NE and when that did not successfully takeoff he enlisted in the United States Army where he had a successful career as a helicopter pilot for 26 years. He then worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 1 ½ years in Stratford, CT and then made a career change to be a property manager of multiple Apartment Complexes for a 16 years before retiring.
He loved to fish, golf, go to San Diego Padre games, watching sports, tinkering and building things such as parallel bars for his granddaughter, Mandi to use to master use of reciprocating leg braces, share his stories of growing up and his military service, telling jokes and spending time with his family.
Services will be held this Friday, May 12 th at 6:30pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Cloverdale building in Turner, OR and Interred at Fort Rosecrans in Pt. Loma, CA with full military honors in July 2017.
