Amy McDaniel Denning

April 11, 1972 — September 2, 2024

Salem

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Amy McDaniel Denning, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She passed away at home in Salem, Oregon on September 2, 2024, due to a cardiac event. Amy was 52 years old.

Amy was born in Yuba City, California to Lonzo D. McDaniel and Dorthea Lawrence McDaniel on April 11, 1972. Amy lived in Marysville, California until she was 5 and then moved to Salem, Oregon. As a child, she had a vivid imagination, a lot of friends, and always watched out for others. Those attributes carried on into her adult life.

Amy attended McKay High School, graduating class of 1990, and then enrolled at Chemeketa Community College earning a degree in nursing. It was during this time that Amy met Kevin. After Kev flirted with her for a few weeks, her friend convinced her to give him a shot because he was such a great guy. She soon found out just how right her friend was, and never looked back. They started dating and on January 15, 2000, they got married in South Lake Tahoe. They celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary this year. Amy loved Kevin so much and was ever grateful for their life together. They have three beautiful children, Olivia Jo, Mackenzie Danielle, and Logan Wendell Denning.

Amy loved her family and enjoyed supporting them in their school and extracurricular activities. She could bring a smile to everyone’s face with her joyful sense of humor and keep them all giggling for hours. Although she faced many health challenges in her life, she supported her family every chance she possibly could.

Amy was an RN and loved her career. Nursing was fulfilling and she was a natural caregiver. She easily cared for and loved her patients, friends, and family. They knew she cared about them. Amy was respected by the surgeons and medical staff she worked with. She was able to teach nursing in Salt Lake City, Utah at Eagle Gate College. She loved sharing her knowledge and experiences with her students.

Amy is going to be deeply missed by many. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Michael Denning; her children, Olivia Jo, Mackenzie Danielle, and Logan Wendell Denning; father, Lonzo D. McDaniel (Katie); mother, Dorthea Lawrence; step-father, Raymond Paul; and her sisters, Bethany McDaniel, Lisa McDaniel, and Sarah Paul.
