Alberta Lucille Fudge

Alberta Lucille Fudge was born Alberta Lucille Slack on March 24th, 1950 in Salem, Oregon, to Edwin Noel and Essie Jane Slack. She was raised in Salem with her three brothers, Arnie, Arlen and Theodore, and one sister Arlyce. She graduated from south Salem High School in 1968 and worked as a bookkeeper in her younger years. She met Robert Fudge in 1974. They were married in March of 1975. Her son Brian Lee Fudge was born in December of 1975, followed by her daughter Connie Rochelle Fudge in December of 1979. She loved her children and did the best she could with what she was given. Robert and Alberta raised their children in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salem, Oregon.

Alberta was preceded in death by her father Edwin in 1968 and mother Essie in 2002. Robert passed in 2008, and Brian in 2007. Her brother Theodore is the last surviving child of Edwin and Essie. She is also survived by her daughter Connie Anderson, 39, and one granddaughter, Phoebe Nicole Jane Anderson, 12.

Alberta enjoyed her family and had a knack for remembering dates and names. She loved music, especially country, and loved watching old western movies. Alberta also loved attending church, and through the many struggles she kept to her faith.

Alberta’s family would like people to be aware of the struggles that people diagnosed with mental illness go through. Alberta was diagnosed at a young age with mental illness. She was still able to have a family and friends. Even though people with mental illness have battles within them, they are still deserving of respect and compassion. Alberta would want that to be her legacy, one of compassion and kindness.
