Obituary

Tom Tate, who was just 1 day shy of turning 59, passed away in his home the morning of March 25th 2023. Although his passing was unexpected and sudden, we are comforted knowing that just moments before it was his time to go, he was joking, laughing and enjoying his morning.

Tom was born in Washington to Emilia Barahona-Estribi and Thomas Tate, who have also passed. He is survived by his wife Alesia (Ali) Tate, his 3 daughters Tristin, Teddi, and Demi, his 4 step children, Samuel, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Tyler, and his 2 brothers Andy and Lee Tate. Tom was also blessed with 10 grandchildren who he loved dearly.

After moving from Washington to Texas, then finally to Oregon, Tom created a life one could only hope to have. He worked as a machinist for the majority of his life by day and as an incredible artist by night. There was nothing Tom looked at, that didn’t inspire him in some way. He was always eager to find the beauty and potential in his thoughts and ideas. His art was his gift to the world, and oh boy were we lucky to have been able to experience and enjoy it!

Outside of being creative, Tom loved LIVING! Camping, car shows, air shows, garage sales, antiquing, thrifting, expos, fairs, working out, and most of all…spending time with the people he loved. He made sure that everyone around him knew he cared for them and loved them fully. As his wife said, “He had no loose ends left to take care of here.” And that’s a truth not most people can say for themselves.

There will not be a day that goes by that he is not missed by everyone who knew him. We are so thankful for the time we got to spend with him here on earth and cannot wait for the day we can join his gentle and caring soul in heaven and hear his laugh for eternity! We love you Tom.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 8th from 1-4pm at Roth's Event Center 1130 Wallace Rd NW Salem Oregon 97304.

Although I did not know & work with Tom very long it did not take much time at all to realize the kind soul he was. I was very sad to learn of his passing since he was taken from us far too early. My condolences to the family. R.I.P. Tom you will be missed!

There is nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said. But I do know one thing, he loved my sister Ali with all his heart and soul and would go to the ends of earth for her. I will miss my brother-in-law dearly.

To the most devoted man whom I shared the last 13 years with. You were my rock, my best friend, protector, lover and soul mate. I’ll miss you forever and one day until I’m with you again. When the wind brushes my face I’ll think of you when rain touches my lips I’ll think of you. I miss you so much but for now we are apart until we meet again. Your loving wife Ali.
