Obituary

On September 11, 2018 Lynne passed away peacefully with her husband at her side, holding her hand. She was born to John E Darling and Thelma Darling in Portland, Oregon. She was the middle of 5 children. After graduating from St. Mary’s Academy in Portland, Oregon, she went to Beauty School and became a Beautician. She met the love of her life, Al, and married him on September 23rd, 1961. After marrying Al, she became a stay at home mom, and had 4 daughters. Lorena, Arlena, Margery, and Kristina. Taking care of her family was her full-time job.

Lynne loved going crabbing with her husband Al. She always said that any month ending in “er” were great crabbing months, except for December, it was too cold. She was a beautiful piano player. Her grandkids loved to watch her play, some would even sing along. She loved when all her children and their children would get together for dinner. She truly enjoyed having those dinners and always looked forward to the next.

Lynne was preceded in death by her daughter, Margery Ball, father John E Darling, mother, Thelma Darling, sister Donna Darling Gebhart, brother John P. (Bud) Darling and sister Kathleen Darling. She is survived by her husband, Al Ball of Willamina, Oregon, daughter, Lorena Ball of Willamina, Oregon, daughter, Arlena (Becky) Malcom and husband Brent Malcom of Salem, Oregon, daughter Kristina Ball of Oregon City, Oregon, and sister, Terrie Cloud of Portland, Oregon. She also leaves behind, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held September 21st, 2018 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church: 4227 Lone Oak Rd. Salem, Oregon 97302 Viewing is at 10:00 am, Rosary 10:30am, Mass at 11:00am. A “potluck” luncheon will be following in the gathering area of the church. Please bring your favorite dish to share while we celebrate Lynne’s life.

    Lynne was my neighbor for lots of years. She was a very sweet lady who loved her family with all her heart. As the family kept growing her heart just kept expanding with space for all.
