Obituary

Lauri Lynn Martin, 57, peacefully passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 surrounded by her children and her beloved dog. This came after a long battle with cancer that ended 1 day shy of 6 years.

She was born in Albany, New York on May 15, 1961. She was raised in Omaha, Nebraska and then moved to Salem, Oregon in September of 1979.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Witherbee. She is survived by her mother, Dolores Witherbee, her sister Lisa Witherbee, her son Adam Martin, daughter in law Jasmine Martin, her daughter Bre Dunn and son in law Grant Dunn. She also leaves behind her much adored dog, Whiskey, along with many many friends.

She was a beloved G-Ma to her grandchildren: Julian, Jayden, Lance, Madysen, Daniel, Savannah, Janiyah, Cameron, Aalyah and Avery.

In addition to the joys of her grandchildren having pool parties at “G-Ma’s Day Camp”, Lauri was an avid reader, she enjoyed a great camping trip and was a devoted animal lover. She looked forward every year for the Farmer’s Market to open up in Salem so she and Whiskey could walk through it every Saturday.

Lauri’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home, 134 Missouri Ave S Salem, OR 97302 at 11am on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

Messages of Sympathy

  1. Sara Roth says:

Lauri was a strong, smart, funny, joy to get to know. I met her through her work many years ago and we became good long-distance friends. She will truly be missed but remembered with great memories and many smiles.

I would like to add my sympathy to all of Lauri’s family and friends. I had a son die that was born at nearly the same time as Lauri . I noticed her mother is still alive and from experience I know the pain of losing a child. It comforted me to know God’s promise of seeing each other again. John 5:28,29

  3. Lucero says:

But I am afflicted and in pain. May your saving power, O God protect me.

  4. Laura says:

We met Lauri at the Salem Farmer's Market. I had the honor of visiting her and getting to know her a little more this summer. What a wonderful person who was always supportive of our farm! Sending love to her family.

I have known Lauri since high school and she was my best friend. No matter the distance we always remained devoted friends who stood by each other through all life's ups and downs. Adam and Bre, you and her grand kids were her life followed closely by Whiskey. I'm sending all of you my love and hugs from Iowa. Michele

  6. Chris and Scott White says:

Lauri was an amazing person. Scott and I are so thankful we got to know her and have her and Whiskey in our lives. I have cried every night since Thursday. I can’t begin to imagine the loss you feel as family. Warm hugs from South FL. We wish we could be there to say goodbye.
