Obituary

Joseph P. Jablonski passed away January 10, 2024, from complications of dementia. Born September 30, 1941, to Aloysius and Sarah (Kokum) Jablonski in Bay City, Michigan. Al, Sarah and all four of Joe’s brothers (Donald, Wiliam, Frederic, and James) proceeded him in death. Joe’s dad was a car mechanic and owned a repair shop. Joe and all his brothers worked in the garage at one time or another. Joe started by cleaning parts at the age of about 9. Not particularly liking working for his father, Joe picked up the auto body repair trade which became his career. Joe served in the Navy, and his fleet responded to the Cuban Missile Crisis. After this was resolved he did a tour of duty in the Mediterranean. Joe was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Parish as well as the Knights of Columbus. Joe became a member of the Knights in his late teens in Bay City, holding several officer positions as well as helping out with fish fries, bingo and children’s programs. Joe was proceeded in death by his daughter JoAnn. Joe is survived by his wife Nancy, children Paul (Jean) and Christopher as well as his grandchildren David and John. In lieu of flowers, well-wishers are encouraged to make a donation in the name of Joe to Queen of Peace Catholic parish.

    Fond memories of the times sitting in the bathroom talking to my dad while he is taking his shower after work to talk about my day, he was my captured audience! I loved him so much an this was my only one on one time with him and cherish it to this day !
