Obituary

JoAnn Bese passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 9, 2017 at the age of 84.

JoAnn was born in Redmond, Oregon to Charles and Ruth DeRoos on June 27, 1932. JoAnne had one older sister, Joyce.

JoAnn graduated from Salem High School in 1950. She then attended Santa Rosa Community College in California where she met her future husband Robert when he was in the Navy. They married on July 7, 1952 and were married for 37 years.

In her career, she worked for Master Service Center, Key Bank, Union County Housing Authority and Marion County Housing Authority. She retired from Marion County Housing Authority at the age of 65 in 1997.

JoAnn and Robert liked camping with the boys, showing quarter horses and supporting the Oregon State Beavers. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling from Mexico to Alaska and Hawaii to Georgia. She particularly enjoyed her trips to San Antonio, Texas. She belonged to a Salem Red Hat Club and the Eagles Lodge.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1989 and her eldest son Mark in 2016. She is survived by her sons Timothy Bese and his wife Judy, Robert (Rob) Bese, Jr. and his wife Shannon along with 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
