Joan Louise DeVore was born on November 7, 1950 in Cheyenne Wyoming to Helen Gray Farruggia and Dominic Farruggia. She was the second of six children. Joan passed away March 13, 2021 with loved ones by her side.
Joan grew up in Aurora Colorado and was blessed with two children-Marie and Christopher. Joan enjoyed travel and lived in several places throughout the United States. After retiring from a career at Intel as Administrative Support, Joan dedicated her life to caring for her parents in Denver until their passing. Last year Joan moved to Oregon to live and enjoy retirement with her son and his family.
Joan was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn and enjoyed going to church and spending time with the brethren. She spent time each morning studying her Bible. Joan enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, The Voice, and of course the Hallmark Channel. Some of Joan’s favorite pastimes were scrapbooking, doing word searches, going to the beach, and spending time with family. Joan was a very giving person who was always willing to help others. Joan’s greatest joy in life came from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan is survived by husband John DeVore of Denver, Colorado, daughter Marie MacMurray of Colorado, and son Christopher Cummins (Jennifer) of Monmouth, Oregon. Grandchildren include Mason MacMurray (Megan), Justin MacMurray (Alex), AJ MacMurray, and Christie MacMurray all of Denver, Colorado, as well as grandchildren Levi and Eli Cummins of Monmouth, Oregon. Great grandchildren include Xavier MacMurray, Scotty MacMurray, Benjamin MacMurray, Rhylinn Smith, Gwen Smith, and Rosalie MacMurray. Joan is also survived by siblings David( Jan) Farruggia of Texas, Mary (Joseph) Holt of Colorado, Michael (Mary) Farruggia of Florida, and Nicholas (Maura) Farruggia of Nebraska.
She was loved deeply and will be missed greatly.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Dominic Farruggia and her brother John Farruggia.
At Joan’s request no service will be held. She requested that instead of sending flowers that people take a friend or family member to lunch in her honor.
My grandma was too good for this world. If it wasn’t for her love and giving nature I would not be the person I am today. She taught us how to be strong and caring at the same time. Every time I’m in a right or wrong situation I think of her and what my Grandma would do. I wish I can find the right words to show how much I miss and love you.
this is sister Suzie. I just learned of sister Joan's passing. She was awsome to me, a great friend. I loved her very much. Her, Bro. Bill and I would spend alot of time together when we all lived in OR. She was a very loving, and giving person. It seemed we talked just 6 months ago, but it must have been longer. Peace be with you Marie and Christopher knowing she is at home with GOD. My prayers are out to the very big family she left behind. May your hearts be comforted. GOD be with you.
