Obituary

Craig Kuhns, age 46, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019 surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on February 1, 1972, to Beverly and Mike Kuhns in Salem. He is survived by his parents, brother Ryan, sister and brother-in-law, Kristin and Shane Britton, nephew Aidan, and his partner Steve Reed. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Blanca, and his cat Paris.

Craig loved cars from an early age and could name the brand of nearly every car on the road. His pride and joy was a 1955 Chevrolet 2-door that he and his Dad restored to perfection.

For the past 19 years, Craig was a beloved bus driver for the Beaverton School District, and he loved his kids. Traveling abroad and sometimes closer to home in a vintage trailer he restored with his brother and dad brought him a great deal of joy. He was very family oriented and loved big holiday gatherings. Naturally sentimental, he saved birthday cards, antique grape clusters, teapots, and various items from grandparents.

Craig will be greatly missed by his large extended family and many close friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 26, 2019 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at the Oregon Garden Resort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Oregon Humane Society.

The first time I met Craig I noticed his twinkling eyes and shared my penchant with all things vintage travel trailer with him: we bonded instantly!
Each time we met he was so excited to share his latest discovery: a new recipe, gadget, trip plan, vehicle, celebration. He was just so full of life and fun!
I'll miss his sunny disposition and his enjoyment of no-bake cookies and the way he had of making you feel welcome and loved!

We were deeply saddened to learn of Craig’s passing. He was born just 2 weeks after our first son. Grandma Arline was so happy! Years later Darren and Craig took piano lessons from the same teacher and played a duet at one of the recitals. He was always so friendly. Such a wonderful family!

  7. Kelsay says:

Craig and I met when his grandma Arlene adopted me as one of her grandchildren. We sort of grew up together and I secretly had a little crush on him haha. I am familiar with the demons he faced and have no doubt that in spite of his struggles he loved his friends and family immensely. My heart goes out to all of his family. Much love especially to Bev and Mike and Ryan.

My sincere condolences to Craig's family and close friends. As his cousin Luke's wife, we were not extremely close, but I have very fond memories of him. He was always so sweet and friendly. I'll never forget him hanging halfway out his school bus window waving at me on Scholls Ferry road one morning. Such a loving and fun soul!

I'm deeply saddened at his loss, and the impact on those who were closest to him. May you rest in peace, Craig, and may healing come to those who grieve your loss.

Hi Craig. I’m going to miss our long chats as I cleaned your house. Getting to know you was always such a pleasure. You always had a smile on your face, we talked about cars, played with Blanca & Paris lol and just talked about life. It just saddens my heart not knowing I’m gonna see your smiling face. I hope you are resting well my friend. It was an honor to have known you. Love ya Craig♥️
