Obituary

Larry Sacre, age 70, passed away at his home in Salem, Oregon surrounded by his family on September 12, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on November 4, 1947 to Ollie and Jean Sacre in Tillamook, Oregon. His sister, Cheryl, was born into the family in 1949. Upon graduating from South Salem High School in June 1965, Larry enlisted in the Marines and served his country from 1965 until 1971, including a 14-month tour of duty in Vietnam. He then went to work in the food service industry until retiring in 2010. He enjoyed collecting everything he could and studying his family history.

Larry married Joyce Sacre in August of 1980. He had a son, Brian, and a daughter, Susan, as well as two stepsons, Don and Thomas Polston, and two grandsons, Michel and Zack Polston - all of whom currently reside in Salem. Larry is also survived by his sister and his niece, as well as his aunts, Donna Bauer and Carol Esch, as well as his cousins Steve Sacre, Sharon Thomas, Jeff Sacre, Kyle Sacre, Becky Brookshire, Jim Rogers, Doug Rogers, Derek Esch, and Bob Esch. He is predeceased by his mother and father; his cousin, Jerry Sacre; brother in-law, Bob Berg; his parents in-law, Mart and Fern Iveans; and two sisters in-law, Lazana Tourville and Leona Stone.

Larry will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery with full military honors on October 9 in a private ceremony. A celebration of life is tentatively planned for October 13. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are much appreciated.
