Obituary

Ronald Roy Dunn was born to Roy and Clara Dunn August 18, 1936 in Independence, Oregon. Ron was the oldest of 5 children. There were 4 boys and one girl. Ron grew up in North Howell community on a 30 acre berry farm. He attended North Howell Grade School and graduated from Gervais High School.

After Ron graduated from high school he went to work for Sears Roebuck where he worked for 14 ½ Years. He started out in the service station helping change tires and various jobs. After five years he was promoted to different departments in the store as a department manager. During this time, he also joined the Oregon Army Reserves and served for 8 years.

Ron met a nearby neighbor, Rosemary Werner. After courting for a year, they got married at Salem First Nazarene at 13th and Center by Rev. Duane Muth. From this union were born two children, Cheryl and Kevin.

In January of 1970 they as a family moved back to the berry farm. Their stay on the farm only lasted until 1974. Rosemary’s job transferred her to Portland so they sold the farm and moved to Beaverton, OR. Ron was able to find a job in Beaverton at a Furniture Manufacturing Plant. He worked there until it was shut down. From there he went to another furniture plant in Portland until Ron retired in 1998. Shortly after retiring, they returned to live in Salem.

In his spare time Ron enjoyed bowling, golfing, and camping with family and friends. Ron was a very caring and compassionate person. He was always ready to help someone in need and many people were touched by his friendship.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, daughter Cheryl (Bruce), son Kevin (Toni), and granddaughter Courtney.
Now Ron is no longer suffering. Jesus called him home and he is resting in the arms of Jesus.

God speed to a beloved husband, brother, father, and friend.

The memorial Service will be Saturday, April 7th, at Salem, Nazarene Church, 1550 Market ST NE Salem, OR at 2:00 PM.
