Peggy Noble Evans, beloved mother and friend to so many, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
Peggy and her twin sister Patsy Noble Dickson were born to the late John and Margaret Noble on January 5, 1938. She had an older sister as well, the late Meredith Noble Cannizzo.
Peggy attended Marlborough School for Girls and received her diploma in 1956. She then went to Stephens College and received her associates in arts degree in 1958. She loved college. She majored in preschool education, was a class representative, pledged KA sorority, was treasurer, became a senior sister in her dorm and an honor guard at her graduation.
Peggy was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and was 38 years sober at her time of passing. She touched so many lives of those in recovery from alcoholism and addiction.
Peggy has one son from her first marriage to Chuck Madary- Charles Merrick Madary III.
Peggy is survived by her twin sister Patsy Dickson, her brother in law Tom Dickson, her nephew John Dickson, as well as her nieces from the Dickson family- DeeDee Lansing, and Wendy Cole. She leaves behind other extended family and many, many friends.
Peggy, who was widowed, will be buried next to her late husband Richard Alan Evans at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Peggy will be missed by all whose lives she touched in her sweet, gentle manner.
Donations in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
I knew Peggy in Santa Barbara. She helped a lot of women in AA. She was really nice to me.
She was my sister in law but more than that, a soul connection with a beautiful being and with her sister Meredith, my wife and sister in law Patsy Noble Dickson
I met Peggy through a mutual friend when she lived in Santa Barbara. Later I went to AA meetings with her in Salem, Or. She knew where all the meetings were. Peggy was always helping other people and did 12 Step work like no other. May you rest in peace. God bless you Peggy.
Peggy was a very gentle soul. Kind and caring to everyone she met. We did aerobics together for many years and shared many warm moments during breaks while sweating with the "oldes". I'll miss her. Holding all her friends and family in my heart and prayers.
I'll see you in the yellow field of flowers
When we were little girls, my twin sister Peggy wore green or blue ribbons in her hair, I wore pink or red ribbons so people could tell us apart ... unless we switched ribbons. I will miss her forever....
She was the best friend I have ever known and I will miss her smile ♡♡♡♡♡
I am so saddened by the news of Peggy's passing. She was so loved by all those who were blessed to have known her.
We are so saddened at hearing of the passing of Peggy, Pres' first cousin. She was loved by so many! We remember good times spent with her during the early years of the annual family reunion first in San Diego, then in Santa Barbara. She was famous for her wonderful potato salad!
Praying that you take very good care of yourself, Skip.
Our hearts go out to you and the family.
love, Preston and Pat Spalding
My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Peggy. Thank you for trusting Johnson Funeral Home with her final arrangements. May God bless you and may she rest in peace.
