Obituary

Maj. Kenneth Russell Boyd II "Russ" came into this world July 22, 1943. He passed into the loving arms of his Savior on May 17, 2018. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, and graduated with a Master's Degree in Business from Bowling Green State University in 1966. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps that same year, and served until 1970 when he transferred to the U.S. Air Force to fullfill his dream of flying, which he did until retiring as a Major in 1986.

Flying was his greatest passion, and eventually it led him to his greatest love; his wife, Toni, a flight attendant he literally ran into on the tarmac at LAX when they both worked for West Air Airlines. They began a two year relationship that led to marriage on April 15, 1993. They got to spend 25 glimmering silver years together. During those years, his wife's love of the Lord influenced Russ to become and exceedingly devout Christian himself.

He is predeceased by both parents, and his two elder sisters; Nola and Judy, all of Dayton, OH.

He is survived by his wife, Toni (Salem, OR); his two children Ken III (Lisa) and Andrea Robin, and grandchildren Jacob, MacGuire, Pierce, and Kennedy (Ken). He is also survived by his step-daughter Janna Graham (Clint), grandchildren, Autumn, Wyatt, and Quin, all of Salem, OR; and step-son Ted Hardiman (Amy), and grandchildren Tyler and Jacob, all of Puyallup, WA.

At Russ' request, no service was held, only a simple cremation handled by Johnson Funeral Home in Salem, OR. Funeral director Miles Johnson was so helpful to us in our time of loss.

In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
