Obituary

Joanne Carol Howard (Gram) passed away at her home in Salem, Oregon at the age of 74 on February 7, 2018, after a long battle with lung disease.

Joanne was born in Tacoma, Washington on February 26, 1943, to Lawrence and Shirley Gault. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Howard, in 1961. They were married for over 56 years and he was there by her side until the very end.

Joanne was full of spunk and loved her family dearly, they meant everything to her. She never met a cat she didn’t like and every stray that showed up on her doorstep was soon a member of the family. She was adventurous and fearless, spending several years in Alaska running a fishing boat with Kenneth before they moved back to Oregon to retire.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her brother, David Gault; her daughters, Kim, Kathy, and Karen; nine beautiful grandchildren; several precious great-grandchildren, two nieces, and a nephew. She was loved dearly and she will be greatly missed.

We love you, Mom. Keep the wind beneath your wings until we meet again.

There will be a viewing for a chance to pay final respects at 5pm, Monday, February 12th, 2018, at Johnson Funeral Home in Salem, Oregon. There will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Salem Friends of Felines animal rescue shelter.
