Obituary

JoAnn Katherine Briggs, 83, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 28, 2017 in Salem, Oregon. JoAnn was born in Newark, Ohio to Leo and Elizabeth Schonhar on April 22, 1933. She graduated from Dayton high school. 

After raising her family, she worked at Cascade High School in food services where she enjoyed interacting with the students. She retired in 1999. She cherished her grandchildren and took pride in being a devoted grandmother and nana. She was an avid gardener with a love for the squirrels and birds who visited her beautiful flower gardens.  

Surviving her are her sisters Darlene (Stout), Sue (Schonhar), Sandi (Norris). Her brother Huey (Fields) preceded her in death. She is also survived by her four children; Debbie (Tom), Rod (Mary), Chris (Ruth), Greg (Barbara), eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday February 18, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Make a Wish Foundation.
