Obituary

Agnes Ann Eddington Halliday, age 79, of Salem OR, passed away Monday March 16th 2020 after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was born to Elmer D. Eddington and Agnes Bean on May 11, 1940 in her grandfather’s Sugar City, Idaho home.

A loving mother and homemaker, Ann was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She graduated from BYU with a degree in Home Economics and spent many years teaching in Oregon schools. In 1964 she married Larry Dunlap and together they had four children. She took a break from teaching to raise her family and returned to school later in life to earn a degree in special education. Ann loved her work in this field and earned the distinguished honor of Special Education Teacher of the Year. After retirement Ann re-married to Richard Halliday and together, they served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Los Angeles area, working in genealogy. Ann had a love for playing the piano, sewing, quilting, camping and enjoying time with her many grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Richard Halliday of Salem, brother, Corey Eddington (Kathy) of Buhl, ID, her children; Scott Dunlap (Joyce) of Gig Harbor, WA, Mary Ann Dunlap of Sherwood, OR, Shawnette Anderson (Jeff) of Salem, Chris Dunlap of Turner OR and Erica Dunlap (daughter in law) of Turner, OR, eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days. For those who have known Ann in her journey with us, her graveside service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland on Wednesday March 25, 2020 at 1:00 pm. There will be a viewing at Johnson Funeral Home in Salem from 10:30-11:30 am preceding the graveside service.
